My paintings express my delight in the patterns of light and colour that I find in the everyday world. By simplifying detail and using expressive colour, my paintings go beyond simple representation.  I strive to commit to the canvas my personal visual and emotional response to a moment of time and place. Often it is the visual element of the movement of light over form that draws me to a subject, other times I am more interested in the narrative aspect of the interaction of people in the landscape.  I find plenty of inspiration in the Yukon that I know so well and traveling provides me with a rich source of new ways to see light, landscape and people. My goal is to engage the viewer, allowing them to see my world and respond with their own interpretation.
